NEXTGEN Group has appointed industry veteran, Gary Cox, to the main Board of NEXTGEN as an Independent Non-Executive Director. Gary joins the Chairman, Andrew Petering, and Director, Susan Searle as fellow independent, non-executive directors to bolster the governance and industry experience for NEXTGEN.
Gary is a respected figure in the ICT industry across AsiaPac, having just completed his role as Chairman of Rhipe and overseen their successful sale to Crayon last month. Gary has over 35 years in the IT industry, based in a variety of countries, including the UK, Europe, USA, Australia and Japan. Most of his tenure has been with Microsoft, joining in 1992, and his last role with Microsoft was as VP Enterprise and Partner business for Asia, leaving in 2010. He has had additional senior executive roles with Oracle, EMC, and as the CEO for TrueLocal, a News Corp. subsidiary and Internet search business serving Australia and New Zealand.
Gary will add significant value to NEXTGEN’s growth across AsiaPac, especially in its focused strategy of enterprise software, multi-cloud, data management, cybersecurity, and the rapidly growing channel services businesses of Bang, oSpace, Optima, and Orbus Capital. As Andrew Petering, Chairman of NEXTGEN states, “The Directors are delighted to have Gary joining us on the board of Nextgen Group. Gary brings a wealth of experience in the IT sector across the enterprise space and operating in Asia which will add real value to NEXTGEN’s strategic direction over the coming years.”
NEXTGEN has recently engaged Forrester to conduct a review of their business and their strategic direction against a global benchmark and to provide advice on positioning for the next generation of trends, opportunities, business models, and technologies. John Walters, Group CEO of NEXTGEN states, “The Forrester engagement has been very timely and insightful. Their benchmarking and advice have given us even more confidence to accelerate and ensure we capture as many of the current and future opportunities as possible. There are significant global trends that are being exacerbated by ‘Black Swan’ events and these are a watershed for our industry. This requires channel players to innovate, and quickly. Gary’s experience will be pivotal in how NEXTGEN focuses on these strategic opportunities, and I look forward to working with him.”
Gary Cox comments, “I have known John for nearly 20 years, and watched the success of NEXTGEN from a start-up only 10 years ago. The authentic brand, the innovative business model, and their growth plans are very exciting and I looking forward to adding some value to the next part of the NEXTGEN journey.”
Gary Cox will use his vast experience and personal skills to complement those of the current Board, being Andrew Petering, Steve Murphy, Susan Searle, and John Walters. NEXTGEN has an extremely strong culture that thrives on growth, innovation, diversity, and strong relationships. Cox will focus on providing his experiences and wealth of knowledge to support the next growth phase of NEXTGEN and broaden the strength of the NEXTGEN Board.
